Acquired Neuromuscular Weakness in Critical Illness
Description
Objectives: Readers will acquire skills to: (1) Discuss the clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and outcomes of NM weakness associated with critical illness, (2) explain a unifying hypothesis for the pathophysiology for this common complication, (3) describe the frequency and risk factors for NM weakness in the ICU setting, (4) demonstrate clinical and EDX approaches, (5) present a proposed pathophysiology for the condition, and (6) provide examples of rehabilitation considerations.
