Objectives: Readers will acquire skills to: (1) Review the diagnostic utility of distinguishing clinical signs in diagnosis of muscular dystrophies, (2) discuss the diagnostic utility of ancillary testing such as US, muscle MRI, and muscle biopsy in diagnosis of muscular dystrophies, (3) explain the advances of genetics of muscular dystrophies, and (4) describe the role of next generation sequencing and whole exome sequencing in diagnosis of muscular dystrophies.
