Ethics Vignette XVIII: Conflict of Interest
Description
Ethics Vignette XVIII: Conflict of Interest defines what it means to have a “conflict of interest,” discusses common misconceptions about conflicts of interest, and how conflicts of interest should be addressed. The intended audience is physicians, residents and fellows, and is also relevant to technologists.

AANEM ethical vignettes utilize true clinical scenarios to highlight common ethical situations confronted by physicians and technologists that care for patients with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders. Specific application of AANEM's Ethical Guidelines are discussed throughout each vignette.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will acquire skills to (1) define “conflict of interest,” (2) discuss misconceptions of conflicts of interest, and (3) discuss how conflicts of interest should be addressed.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
The AANEM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The AANEM designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
