Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Nerve Procedures
Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Nerve Procedures Training Video is designed to introduce scan techniques and protocols for performing ultrasound guided peripheral nerve injections. It reviews technical considerations for performing safe and effective injections including tips on needle guidance and image optimization.
Topics include:
- In-Plane and Out-of-plane Ultrasound Guided Injection Techniques
- Ultrasound -Guided Injection Basics
- Indicates for Ultrasound Guided vs Blind Injection Techniques
- Transducer Selection, Pre-Scan Protocols, and Transducer Manipulation Techniques
- System Optimization and Nerve Safety Techniques
- Procedure Set-up
- Suprascapular Nerve Injection Techniques
- Extrinsic Ganglion: Fenestrate-Aspirate-Inject
- Deep Radial Nerve
- Median Nerve at the Carpal Tunnel- Including Post-Injection Scan
- Fibular Nerve at Fibular Head
- Tibial Nerve a Tarsal Tunnel
- Sural Neuroma Hydro-Dissection Techniques with Post-Scan
- Ultrasound-Guidance in Complicated Areas Such as the Pectoralis Minor
Objectives: After viewing the activity, the participant should be able to:
- State the clinical indications for performing ultrasound-Guided peripheral nerve injections.
- Recognize sonographic appearance of the anatomy of the nerves.
- Outline in-plane and out-of-plane injection techniques
- List system optimization parameters, examination protocols and scan techniques for performing safe and accurate ultrasound-guided injection techniques.
- List appropriate techniques for performing ultrasound guided hydro-dissections.
- Use of Doppler/Power Doppler for nerve/vessel identification and assistance with performing ultrasound-guided injection techniques.
- Perform ultrasound guided injection techniques for upper and lower extremity nerve applications.
