Ultrasound and Electrodiagnosis (EMG) of Other Nerves About the Leg, Foot and Ankle Training Video is designed to provide a comprehensive approach to the use of ultrasound for the assessment of Other Nerves About the Leg, Foot and Ankle. The presentation is structured to review the nerve anatomy, clinical assessment, the relative value and technical approach of routine electrophysiologic techniques, scanning techniques, and image optimization with ultrasound. In addition, the clinical basis for utilizing ultrasound for assessment of both normal / abnormal sonographic characteristics of the nerves, muscles, and other related anatomy is included.

  • Anatomy of Nerves Around the Foot and Ankle and their Branches
  • Normal Sonographic Appearance of Nerves around the Foot and Ankle
  • Scanning Protocols for Various Nerves Around the Foot and Ankle
  • Commonly Seen Pathology Associated with Nerves Around the Foot and Ankle
  • Assessment of Nerve Enlargement and Changes in Muscle Echotexture

Objectives: After viewing the activity, the participant should be able to:

  • State the clinical indications for performing ultrasound evaluation of nerves around the foot and ankle.
  • Recognize sonographic appearance of the anatomy of nerves around the foot and ankle.
  • List examination protocols and scan techniques for evaluation of the nerves around the foot and ankle.
  • Identify commonly seen pathology for nerves around the foot and ankle and apply diagnostic criteria for accurate diagnosis.
