Checkpoint: Electrodiagnostic Assessment of the Brachial Plexus The Role of Nerve Conduction
Description
FORMAT: PDF
This Anatomy Checkpoint is a complete overview of the electrodiagnostic (EDX) assessment of the brachial plexus and the role of nerve conduction studies (NCSs). This review begins with a discussion of brachial plexus (BP) anatomy and lesion classification, includes a general overview of EDX assessment and a focused discussion of the EDX assessment of individual BP regions, and concludes with our approach to the EDX assessment of patients with brachial plexopathies. Although the focus of this discussion is on the proper application of the NCS to BP assessment, for completeness sake, a limited amount of information related to the needle EMG study is included. For illustrative purposes, three cases are reviewed at the end of this manuscript.
The AANEM designates this enduring material for a maximum of 3 CEUs.
