OBJECTIVES: 1 Differentiate between hereditary and immune-mediated forms of rippling muscle disease, including their genetic markers, clinical presentations, and age of onset; 2) Identify the key diagnostic features of rippling muscle disease, particularly percussion-induced rapid muscle contraction and electrically silent muscle activity on EMG; 3) Apply a systematic diagnostic algorithm to evaluate patients with suspected rippling muscle disease, including appropriate genetic testing, muscle biopsy interpretation, and antibody measurement.
