Course Description
Learn about how to design your EMG study to maximize patient care and when to refer patients for surgical evaluation through this self-assessment course created from two complimentary courses from the 2022 Annual Meeting. 


Basic NCS and Needle EMG Part 1 & 2
Articulate the basic concepts underlying NCSs and how to approach NCSs; conduct and interpret NCSs in the upper and lower extremities and identify anomalous innervations; use specialized studies including RNS, cranial nerve studies, and blink reflex; apply needle EMG for the diagnosis of NMDs; recognize common pitfalls, explain technical factors and important safety considerations affecting the study.


To claim self-assessment (SA) credit, you must watch the session recordings and answer a post-test. You must get above a 70% on the post-test survey to claim credit.

The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) have reviewed and approved this product as part of a comprehensive lifelong learning program, which is mandated by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) as a necessary component of maintenance of certification (MOC).
