Performance in Practice: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Performance in Practice
This Performance in Practice (PIP) is designed to enable the physician to apply best practices in the electrodiagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) require PIP activities be completed as a portion of maintenance of certification (MOC).  ABPN Diplomates: Both the Clinical and Feedback Modules of AANEM’s CTS PIP qualify as ABPN Improvement in Medical Practice (PIP) activities. ABPN requires one PIP activity be completed every three years. ABPN diplomates enrolled in MOC may fulfill this requirement by completing the Clinical Module or the Feedback Module of the CTS PIP.
ABPMR Diplomates: Completing the Clinical Module of the CTS PIP fulfills ABPMR's MOC Part IV Practice Performance (PIP) requirement.

SETUP
The PIP implementation period (Stage 2) must be at least 30 days in duration and not exceed 2 years. AANEM PIPs include both a Clinical and Feedback Module; only the Clinical Module is designated for CME. Each module is structured into three stages: 1) An initial review of performance; 2) a performance improvement implementation period; and 3) a reassessment of performance. The AANEM will report PIP completion to ABPN and ABPMR on your behalf.
